Toronto to Ottawa or Montreal by chauffeur: worth it against the train?
An honest comparison of a private car and the train for the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal corridor - time, cost, luggage, privacy and when each one genuinely wins.

Where the train wins
For a single traveller going city-centre to city-centre with one bag, the train is usually the better answer. It is cheaper, it is often faster than the road on the Toronto-Ottawa run, and you can work the whole way. We are not going to pretend otherwise.
Where the car wins
Two or more travelling together, and the arithmetic flips - a city-to-city transfer is one fare regardless of headcount, with no taxis at either end. It also wins whenever the trip is not city-centre to city-centre: a suburban office in Markham to a client in Kanata is a miserable rail journey and a straightforward drive.
Privacy is the underrated reason
Legal, government and corporate clients book this route for a reason that has nothing to do with time: four and a half hours of private conversation and confidential documents, with nobody sitting across the aisle. That is not available on a train at any price.
The practical detail on long runs
Chauffeurs take scheduled breaks on trips over four hours, as the law requires - we plan the stop into the schedule rather than surprising you with it. On the longest routes we may assign two chauffeurs. Luggage is unlimited within the vehicle, and there is no station transfer at either end.
What it looks like in practice
Toronto to Ottawa is roughly four and a half hours on the 401 and 416. Montreal is closer to six. Both are quoted as a fixed one-way price including the vehicle's return positioning, so nothing is added at the far end. For a same-day return, an hourly booking at the destination keeps the car with you.

The rest of the trip, booked in one place
We are partnered with BookingWorldwide.net for flights, hotels, resorts, activities, packages and car rentals — so the chauffeur at this end and everything at the far end can be arranged together.
