Hamilton is two cities separated by a limestone ridge, and every journey here is really a question about how you cross it. The Jolley Cut, the Claremont Access and the Sherman Access carry most traffic between the lower city and the Mountain, and they are the first roads in the region to become genuinely difficult in freezing rain. A pickup on the Mountain in January is quoted differently from the same address in July, and we default to SUVs up there through the winter. Which airport, and the honest answer
Hamilton International is twenty minutes from most of the city, has cheap parking and a terminal you can move through quickly - when your route is served, it beats Pearson comfortably. When it is not, the drive to Pearson runs the 403 and the QEW and takes an hour outside peak, considerably more inside it.
