For passengers in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering and Bowmanville, it removes an hour of westbound 401 driving from each end of the trip - which on a same-day return is two hours of your life back.

How ramp-side pickup actually works

Ramp access is controlled by the airport and the handler, not by us. Send us the FBO or operator name and the tail number, and we contact them directly to agree where and when the car waits. That way the vehicle is positioned when the door opens rather than sitting in a public car park while you carry bags across a ramp. The same procedure applies at every Ontario field in our private aviation section.

The Pearson pairing

A pattern we run regularly: a private arrival into Oshawa, then a chauffeured transfer to Pearson for an onward commercial flight. It is a long cross-city run and the 407 usually pays for itself. Booked as one journey it is straightforward; booked as two separate trips by two people it is where connections get missed.

When Toronto/Buttonville closed to aircraft operations in November 2023, a share of its business aviation moved to Oshawa Executive along with Waterloo and Pearson. If you previously flew into Buttonville, Oshawa is frequently the natural replacement for anything east or north-east of the city.

Practically, that means access is controlled and timing is coordinated through your handler rather than assumed - which is why we ask for the FBO name and tail number rather than a terminal and a time.

Durham corporate work around the airport

The airport sits inside a broader Durham business corridor, and a share of the traffic through it is executives arriving for a half-day at a plant or office and departing the same afternoon. For those days, an hourly booking with the car staying with the passenger is the right structure - there is no sensible taxi supply to fall back on at a general-aviation field, and a chauffeur waiting is far cheaper than a flight held.

Weather, and the small-field difference

Small fields are affected by weather in ways large airports absorb: a low ceiling that Pearson handles routinely can hold a light aircraft on the ground.
