The Yonge corridor, and how it drives

Richmond Hill runs along Yonge Street between Highway 7 and Bloomington, and the whole city's traffic behaviour follows that spine. Yonge itself is slow at almost any hour with frequent signals; the 404 and 407 are the fast routes and worth the detour for anything time-critical. For an airport run we will normally route east to the 404 even when it looks longer on the map, because it is more predictable - and predictability is the entire product on a 5am departure.

Family airport travel

A large share of our Richmond Hill work is family travel - parents flying out, relatives arriving, students heading back to university. Pearson is thirty-five to fifty minutes, which means an early international departure needs a pickup that feels brutal at the time and sensible in hindsight. We quote it honestly rather than optimistically, and for very early flights we will sometimes suggest an airport hotel the night before instead.

Evening and occasion work

The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is a regular evening drop, and the restaurant clusters along Yonge and Highway 7 fill the rest. Oak Ridges, Bayview Hill and the estate properties

North Richmond Hill and the Oak Ridges Moraine bring long private driveways, gravel approaches and, in winter, roads that are meaningfully worse than the arterials a kilometre away. From December through March we assign SUVs by default in these pockets. If your driveway is long, steep or unpaved, tell us when you book - it changes which vehicle we send, and it is much better handled in advance than at 4am.
