Canada's technology corridor, and the travel it generates

Markham's technology park is the densest concentration of tech employers in the country, and it produces a very particular kind of ground transport: visiting executives arriving from the US west coast or Asia, multi-stop client days across the corridor, and airport runs at unsociable hours. Booked hourly, one chauffeur holds an entire day of meetings and absorbs the one that runs long. Booked as separate trips, the same day falls apart at the second overrun.

Unionville and the occasion work

Main Street Unionville is one of the most-used wedding photograph locations north of the city, and the surrounding streets have limited stopping - we drop and reposition rather than wait outside. Markham Museum and the historic core carry the same pattern. For weddings here the photograph stop needs to be in the schedule rather than improvised, because parking is genuinely tight.

Airport routes from Markham

Markham sits across the top of the city, which means Pearson is a cross-town run of thirty-five to fifty minutes and the 407 usually pays for itself on a tight schedule. Worth knowing: Oshawa Executive is often closer for private aviation, and Billy Bishop can beat Pearson for a same-day Ottawa or Montreal meeting even with the drive downtown.

The old Buttonville question

Toronto/Buttonville Municipal Airport closed to aircraft operations in November 2023, and business aviation that used it moved to Oshawa Executive, Waterloo and Pearson.
